Cades Cove is a stunning valley within the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This valley was home to a community for many years before being turned into a national park. Whether you enjoy hiking, nature or history, Cades Cove has something for you. Enjoy an 11-mile drive through gorgeous scenery, while stopping at historic building and viewing a variety of wildlife.

Cable Mill area

The cable Mill area boasts an historic gristmill, farmhouse, cantilever barn, and visitor center with restrooms. Enjoy a relaxing walk among these and other structures. This area provides a good spot to take a break and even enjoy a little shopping in the visitor center’s shop.

Picnic Area

The Picnic area in Cades Cove offers a wooded location with picnic tables and creeks.

Cades Cove

Consider taking a hayride from April through October. The hayrides start at 6 p.m. and offer a unique perspective on the area's stunning scenery and wildlife. Groups of 15 or more can also reserve a hay wagon for day trips starting as early as 10 a.m.

Consider renting a horse at the Cades Cove Riding Stables. Once the quickest mode of transportation in the mountains, horseback riding is a fun and exciting way to explore the area.

If you would like to explore Cades Cove at a more leisurely pace, bicycles are available for rent from April through October. On Saturdays from June through Labor Day, the Loop Road is closed to cars and reserved for bicyclists from sunrise until 10 a.m.
